People that Wear Denture may Run a Risk of Excess Zinc Intake.
07/14/12
According to a new study denture wearers need to be careful of the risk of excess zinc intake. If you wear denture is is very important that you follow the instructions and recommended dosages on the adhesive product label.
Too often people will overuse the denture adhesive and, although it happens rarely, you can ingest toxic levels of zinc, with adverse neurologic effects. A single tube should last any where from three to ten weeks with daily use. Though usage can depend on the number of application per day. The number one reason why people over use denture adhesive is due to ill fitting dentures.
A dentist can make sure your denture are adjusted when needed as your mouth continues to change. Having poorly fitted dentures can force you to use more denture adhesive to try to get the denture to stay in place. Have your denture fitted and check one every six months.

Dr Dental Insurance on Senior Dental Care, Seeing your dentist Regularly.
07/02/12
Seniors may need to see the dentist more then just twice a year for oral health check ups? Tooth decay can be more frequent in seniors. Adults are also more likely to have tooth decay around older fillings if not regularly checked by a dentist. Though fluoride in community water supplies may be common, that was not always the case for some of the older seniors.
Cavities in the tooth root are more common in seniors due to receding gums lines. Receding gums exposes more of the tooth root surface to decay. Seniors also can have dry mouth due to either age or different medications they may have to take. Dry mouth can lead to a higher risk of tooth decay because without an adequate amount of saliva the acids produced by plaque can not be neutralized
Many seniors often put off their dental care needs due to reasons such as not having transportation, No dental insurance, other health issues that keeps them from seeing a dentist and cost for dental services.
A way to address these issues: Check to see if there any available ride care services for seniors. Buy dental insurance so that cost for dental services can be more affordable. If there are other health issues keeping you way from a dentist that can be more difficult to address. (There are some dentist that are willing to make house calls when nessary). However having other health issues can make it even more important to see a dentist regularly.

We will continue to carry out provisions of the law by thoughtfully implementing the new requirements for customers and members. We will also continue to look for ways to address increasing costs that are crippling our health care system, including: · Advancing our partnership with primary care physicians announced earlier this year that we believe will substantially improve quality and member health, and potentially reduce the trend in overall medical costs by as much as 20% by 2015. · Coordinating patient care through the use of IBM-Watson technology to promote evidence-based health care and ensure that millions of Americans receive the most effective courses of treatment.
