Dr Dental Insurance for New or Replacement Dentures.
08/10/12
There are plenty of dental insurance plans that will cover dentures, but you need to plan ahead. Many but not all dental insurance plans have waiting periods from 6-18 months. For many dental plans, replacing teeth with dentures is classified as major dental services.
The average benefit for major dental care is 50% co-insurance. Make note when you are replacing dentures the dental company may required proof that you had the prior dentures for X amount of years before providing coverages for new dentures make sure you read the plan terms and conditions on this.
Another dental plan type you may want to review when getting new dentures or replacing old dentures would be a dental discount plans. Dental discount plan plans are a low cost dental plan that do not have waiting periods or restrictions on how long you may have had prior dentures. You will get the saving available to you under the plan. They normally start within the next business day of your online enrollment. .Remember discount dental plans are not insurance dental plan.
Dr Dental, Broken tooth after having a root canal.
08/08/12
Around six mouths ago I had a root canal done. The dentist put on a temporally crown. I was to go back for a permanent crown two week latter but the fact was the root canal cost me all the money I had. About two months after having the root canal done the temporally crown came off. I tried putting it back but that did not work.
Not having the money for the crown I did nothing. I know that was not the best choice but at the time I though I could wait it out until I saved money. However I believe now I may have broken part of the tooth that had the root canal done. I do not know what to do at this point. I tried looking for dental insurance like my friend suggested to me but I am finding out now everything about this tooth would not be covered since I started a dental job and never finished it.
Dr Dental on Understanding Supplemental Dental Insurance.
08/06/12
Supplemental dental insurance is an individual or family insurance policy purchased to cover a portion of the dental costs. Supplemental dental insurance will normally not cover the entire dental care procedure.
If you have a primary dental insurance plan that you purchased or your employer provided, the supplemental dental policy typically covers the remaining dental bill. For example, if the dental plan policy covers half of the dental cost, the secondary or supplement dental insurance plan should cover the remaining balance of your dental procedure.
A supplement dental insurance plan may also be purchased to cover the dental charges when there are annual dental benefit plan limits or exclusions.

Dr Dental HMO Dental Insurance VS Dental Discount plans.
08/02/12
I live in Los Angeles CA and I have been looking for a good low cost dental plan that I can use for my dental services. I do not need any major dental work but I may need a filling or two. I see that the lower cost plans tend to be either a dental HMO insurance plan or a Dental Discount plan. I notice that on either plan you have to stay with in the plan network of provider and it seems that services are listed on a schedule. So what are the difference between the two types of dental plans that I am not seeing? Which is better to get?
Dr Dental Knowing the Signs and Symptoms of Gingivitis.
07/30/12
Knowing the signs of gingivitis is important for preventive dental care. Some of the classic signs and symptoms of gingivitis would include swollen and red gums, gums that are tender or sore, gums that bleed when brushing your teeth.
Other larger signs of gum disease would be: Receding gums or gums pulled away from your teeth. Gum disease can cause pockets to form between your teeth and gums. When this happens plaque and ford debris can collect in these pockets.
If you have any of these signs or the starting of this signs go to your dentist. A dentist can confirm and treat any gums and teeth issues. Preventive gum disease is easy done by brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing daily and regular visits to your dentist for check ups and cleanings.

The literature about osteonecrosis of the jaw has been severely limited since most investigations cannot evaluate sufficient numbers of afflicted individuals to accurately determine the incidence of the disease and associated risk factors. The International and American Associations for Dental Research’s Journal of Dental Research released a research report that estimates the prevalence of the disease, and a case-control study on bisphosphonate use and other risk factors. These investigations published in the JDR represent some of the largest published studies to date on ONJ patients, and the researchers involved utilized the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research-supported Practice-based Research Networks

Dr Dental, Cold sore or Gum disease not sure.
07/22/12
For little over a week now I have had this lighter color blister looking thing on the inside of my mouth on my gums. When I first saw it I though it was just either a cold sore of a canker sore. But if that was really what it is would it not be gone by now? It does hurt me once in a while when I am eating or drinking anything too hot.
I do not have dental insurance so going to a dentist to get it looked out will be too costly for me. I really do not want to do that if it is only a cold sore that will go away given time. What should I do? Suggestions and advise please.
Study on Bone Creating Protein is More Effective then Bone Grafting in Dental Implants
07/20/12
A bone creating protein has be found to be more effective then bone grafting in dental implants. Some people that get dental implants may have either not enough bone or bone that is too thin to hold the dental implant when that happens, the current solution is to do a bone graft to anchor in the permanent prosthetic teeth. However, that technique can be problematic because it involves additional surgeries to harvest the bone
Studies done at the GHSU Laboratory for Applied Periodontal & Craniofacial Regeneration found that implanting bone morphogenetic protein in the sinus more new bone will form within four weeks than using conventional bone grafting at the same site.
