Dr Dental, Dental discount plans in California.

01/26/13

Dental discount plans are a good low cost dental plan option.  They do not have many of the limitations that many dental insurance plans may come with.  On DrDental.com  we offer dental discount plans though Aetna,  Careington and New Dental Choice

Many of our dental discount plans start within the next business day of your on line enrollment. Which is very good for those people that are in dental pain since they can see a dentist right away.  Dental discount plans are not for everyone.  But they are a good way to reduce all your dental needs at a very affordable cost.

When deciding between dental discount plans carefully review their fee schedules.  The fee schedules show the discount prices on what you pay for each dental service listed.  You also want to make sure there is a dentist in the dental plan you want to go to.  Since there is no outside network benefits. I suggest calling the dentist listed and confirming they are still accepting the plan as well as new members.

Dr Dental, Seeing a Dentist Twice a Year Maybe Obsolete Advice

01/10/13

The standard advice about dental care years ago was to  brush and floss your teeth daily and see your dentist at least twice a year.  Brushing and flossing daily for at home oral health care is still good advice, but what about seeing a dentist twice a year?  That may not be sound advice by today standards.

Thought most dental insurance plans may cover for twice a year cleanings there are times when a person should see the dentist more often then just the twice a year standard. For people who have periodontal disease, they may need to see a dentist up to four times a year, Smokers should also visit the dentist more frequently as they may have higher dental and gum risks related to smoking.

How do you know what is best for you?  Talk to your dentist. A dentist will be able to examine you, then considering your dental and medical history will be able to suggest how often to visit them based on your own oral health needs.

However with that said, dentistry is still is not offer in Medicare. Which means many older Americans may not have their needed dental care due to lack of dental insurance.  Many seniors live on  fixed incomes and put off dental care due to the additional expense.
