Types of Dental Insurance Plans

08/20/15

HMO and PPO dental insurance plans are the most common types of dental health insurance.   With an HMO plan you will have to pay your entire dental bill if you visit a dentist who is out of network. This is because there is no outside provider coverage and prices for dental services have only be negotiated with the plan providers.

With a PPO plan, you can normally visit an out-of-network dentist, but you may have to pay a higher co-payment and you are at a high risk of UCR (Usual Customary and Reasonable) fees.  Because each dental insurance plan is different, it is essential to understand all the terms of your dental insurance plan prior to scheduling an appointment with a dentist. Be sure to talk to the dental office staff about your individual dental insurance so you will understand what care is covered and what is not.

DrDental, How cloves can help a toothache.

08/16/15

Keeping cloves in your house is a good dental tip to know. Cloves are one of the best emergency remedy for a toothache. You can rub the clove oil on the tooth or chew the clove.  Chew and keep the clove on the affected area for some time and you will get relief soon. Clove releases oil while chewing that gives relief from pain.

Keep in mind, this trick is only for easing the pain of having a toothache.  It Dose Not Fix The Reason Why You Have A Toothache.  This is a good tip on how you reduce the pain you may be in until you are able to visit your dentist.  If you have a toothache see a dentist ASAP as only a dentist can fix your dental issues and stop you from having the pain altogether.

DrDental, Dental Insurance For My Two Boys.

08/10/15

Question: I am a signal mom with two minor boys living in California.  I do not have dental insurance though my job so I have to buy something for just my boys.  Family plans are just to  costly right now for me so could I have just my two son on a plan by themselves?

Answer: There are very few insurance companies that will write a plan on a minor only and when they do you have to buy two plan one for each child which at that point would normally be more costly then just buying a family plan.  My suggestion is to review our dental HMO insurance options we provide in California though California dental and Primecare.

Both options are low cost and run as high as $40.00 a month for a family and a low as $17.00. You can see the cost for HMO dental insurance plan will normally fit into most peoples budgets.    Please call our member service line at 310-534-3444 if you should have any questions about any of our dental insurance plan options available in California.
